SINE at Smalls Hamtramck

SINE made her way into Small’s as an opener for the Electric Exorcism Tour with I Speak Machine and Curse Mackey and opened the night up with an electrical and visual spectacle not to be missed.

Who is SINE?

Austin, Texas’ electronic/alternative rock band, SINE (pronounced like ‘sign’, written in all caps), is the brainchild of drummer/multi-instrumentalist, Rona Rougeheart. Rona was born in New York, the youngest daughter of a Taiwanese mother and Irish father. She grew up as a military child, living all over the U.S. and in Okinawa, Japan. Her father was a musician who taught her how to play keys and guitar. It wasn’t until later, she decided to take up drums on her own. Early in her musical career, she played drums for multiple bands in Austin, TX, catching the eye of Gretsch Drums who, in 2012, gave her her first endorsement. Gibraltar Hardware also added her to their roster. Since SINE’s inception in 2016, the band has headlined shows around Texas and has shared stages with David J and Peter Murphy’s band (Bauhaus 40 Year Celebration), She Wants Revenge, 3Teeth, Curse Mackey, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, Kanga, Twin Tribes, Wingtips and most recently on December 2, 2021 in Dallas, TX with legendary EBM artists, Nitzer Ebb.

SINE

In a nutshell, SINE weaves dance beats with industrial noise and layers of booming bass, synths and guitars into a mix of jagged textures and dark, lush fusions equally at home on the dance floor, video games and cinematic soundtracks.

If you get an opportunity, find her and see her.
